I know. But I don't think I can keep it from him forever. I hate keeping the secret anyway lying to him and ... everything. It'd be better to get it out into the open.
Thanks. I appreciate it. I'll work something out eventually. Just... not just yet.
[Because putting that final piece down would make it real, something she can at least pretend isn't the case in Deerington. But all things must end and she can't go on pretending forever. It really would be better for all of them for it to be out in the open.
She just wants to take her time getting there. ]
Maybe when we get five minutes when things aren't trying to kill us.
[You have been visited by Holy Mami! She descends from the winter night sky, presents in hand. She has a smile on her face as she hands you a gift with a note attached. It’s a homemade mini sewing kit!]
“Take care of yourself out there! Merry Christmas!”
[Before you have the chance to say anything though, she’s gone! She has a lot of gifts to deliver and little time to do so!] Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!!
[Wow, that happened... real dang fast. Jessie's not really used to receiving Christmas presents. Toys generally are Christmas presents, after all. It's... weird being on the receiving end of one.
Still, she appreciates it a lot and it will, in fact, come in really handy. You could always use something that you can stitch yourself back together with in a place that's actively trying to kill you. A little later, Mami will have a message left for her.]
Aww, thank you kindly for the present, darlin'. It'll come in real handy, I'm sure.
[because of course jessie gets a gift, duh. it's one of those lightweight little stools that toddlers use, with wheels on the bottom, easily pushed, even by tiny doll hands -- he's worried about her and the other toys accessing their house, okay.
he's also drawn her a picture, on a post-it-sized piece of paper, with his sharpest pencils. it's a little fuzzy, but it's pretty unmistakable who it's of.]
[It's still so weird that she got presents- toys don't GET presents. But here she is, getting presents. She's gonna treasure these forever because he's adorable and she loves him a lot.
Next year she will be better prepared for this. Gifts are a THING, wow.]
[In an attempt to enthusiastically celebrate his first ever Christmas, Fern is covertly dropping off a wrapped gift addressed to Jessie from him on her doorstep.
It's a toy-sized machete!
Because of course Fern would assume a knife makes a good holiday gift.]
[ Delivered in a rather large wooden box is two perfectly crafted mechanical horses. There are instructions and riding gear that should fit she and Woody (or whoever she choose to share the other with) perfectly. Attached is a note:
Dear Jessie,
While I've been having trouble figuring out how to put the power of weapons into miniature form, I figured in the mean time you should have a better way to outrun those who would do you harm. Had them designed by brilliant minds and they are fast. You can also use them to just go out for a ride, cause Lord knows a cowgirl needs the wind in the her hair. You let me know if you need any help with them.
[Holy shit horses that don't have the chances to die horribly. She's gonna treasure them forever!! She'll send a message to Ashe, because this is important!!!]
Thanking you kindly for the horses! Bullseye doesn't get why they ain't alive, but he sure likes other horses to hang around with. Between them and Bo's sheep, we've got a real range starting up!
[he hasn't really had time to pick out presents for the gang yet. and besides, he really has no idea what you buy for toys. which is why he instead has the makings of a few presents lined up. the first being the large collection of cardboard boxes that have been making their way into the house, ready to build the city's largest dollhouse. eventually.
there's also a small addition to the team. while droney doesn't have any kind of ai, he does at least know how to follow commands. and, more importantly, has a direct link to karen. meaning, as he'll explain to the four of them, that they can get ahold of him any time they need to, just by talking to it.
oh, and there are also the plans he has for a toy-sized entrance so they have easier access to the house. something akin to an automatic pet door. because clearly adding tech is a way better idea than just adding a smaller sized door. but right now, they're just drawn plans that he'll pull out, along with a few blank sheets of paper so they can try and brainstorm some ideas together of other things they may need around the house.
look, as long as he's a guest here, he wants to be able to offer something in return.]
[Peter is a GOOD BOY and she will love all of it except the cardboard boxes- which she will avoid like the plague. It's not you Peter, carboard boxes just shouldn't exist is all.
Still, his improvements to their existence are always so very welcomed. He can stay forever.]
Found my Fluid; I can type in English which is what I suspected based on how it was working out in my head. Also, I got a gift from Sodder. Can I try it on you?
[...]
It's not dangerous or anything. I think it'll help.
Really? That's oddly comforting to know. Where are you? I wandered away from base for a few minutes. Sorry. I'm fine. I just saw something I wanted to check out.
